Wow, it's been forever. I've had some major writer's block. It's just a drabble, but it's a start.

Hermione watched as Draco Malfoy toyed with the sleeve of his shirt, wondering what was causing him to look more uncomfortable than usual. His trademark sneer had turned to a grimace, and his typically impeccable robes were slightly disheveled.

"What are you looking at, Mudblood?" He’d caught her looking.

"Nothing," she replied, and turned back to her parchment. She continued to watch, shocked, through the veil of her hair. Malfoy took a glance around the room and then gingerly pulled back his sleeve to reveal his swollen forearm; the Dark Mark had been burned there, dark against his pale flesh.

Author: [personal profile] whisperwords | [personal profile] megatron
Words: 100
Fandom: Harry Potter
Rating: PG
Notes: Set after OotP. For [livejournal.com profile] challenge100's "last straw" challenge.

He smashes the mirror against the wall and grinds his shoes against the shards of glass that fall to the floor. His cheeks are streaked with angry tears that don’t register with him; his teeth are grinding together with fury strong enough to crack and chip painfully at the enamel.

His room is in a sorry state of disarray, the broken pieces of his two-way mirror shining up from the floor like diamonds in the rough.

An angry sob - "Sirius" - parts his clenched teeth and his anger quickly turns to sadness. He wishes he hadn’t broken the mirror.

Fandom: Alias
Rating: G
Words: 100
Notes: This was written for challenge #41 at [livejournal.com profile] challenge100.
Setting: This is set just after the season 2 Alias finale, "The Telling."

Sark walked in briskly, the crunch of the glass beneath his feet loud in an otherwise silent room. He could smell the scent of the fight; the smell of guns, blood, and sweat. The smell brought a metallic taste to his mouth: coppery, like pennies.

He picked Bristow up and heaved her over his shoulder. Though she was small, her weight bore down on his slender frame enough that he knew he would do well to hurry. As he carried Sydney out of her home, he saw Allison lying motionless on the floor. He would send someone for her later.

Jack had never known hands rougher than his own. A life of rigging, sails, and splintering wood had given his hands character, and his grip on a foaming pint or a bottleneck was sturdier for it.

Then, one fine, rum-addled day, Jack had encountered the touch of a blacksmith.

Will’s hands were marred with scars and calluses, all wrought in years of metalwork and swordsmanship. His grip on the hilt of a sword was unmatched.

Neither man cared, however, in this moment of drunken debauchery, how they could grip a sword or a bottle. Their sandpaper hands were otherwise occupied.

Title: Unopened Gifts
Fandom: Alias
Rating: PG
Words: 100
Notes: For the holiday challenge at [livejournal.com profile] challenge100. Set in Season 3 Alias.

Sydney sat very still on the couch, a cup of hot tea in her hands. It was Christmas, but she didn't feel much like celebrating. Her small artificial tree wasn't even lit. Everyone she would have shared the holiday with weren't there anymore.

"Come in," she said, putting her cooling tea on the coffee table. Weiss, gift in hand, walked through the door. Sydney gave him a small half-hearted smile and he sat down beside her, putting the gift on the coffee table beside the cup of tea. Without a word, Sydney leaned into his shoulder and began to cry.

Title: All I Want for Christmas
Words: 100
Characters: Ginny Weasley
Notes: For [livejournal.com profile] hp100's Holiday Challenge.

"Merry Christmas," she whispers, holding her bleeding palm over the open pages of the diary. It had occurred to her that maybe if she gave him something of herself, she could bring him back.

The battered diary sits on the floor, a hole in its cover, dried ink on its pages. Her blood, deep red like holly berries, drips to the page, but nothing happens.

A tear comes to her eye as she realizes that the one thing she wants for Christmas – the one thing she's been hoping for all year – will never come to her, not even for Christmas.

His fingers wrapped tightly around the coin in his palm. He could feel his blood oozing around it, slicking the surface of the gold. He held his hand over the chest, preparing to drop the coin, and his mind flashed back to when he'd lost it.

"Tell me something lovely," she'd said to him, but his pirate's mind equated lovely with swords and hookers. Instead, he pulled the coin from his pocket.

"Here's somethin' lovely, m'dear," he said, tucking the coin into her bodice. She'd giggled gleefully.

On his return for the coin, however, she'd not giggled. No, she'd screamed.

Two - [ here ]

Giles stared for a moment at the coin before throwing it into his trinket box with other small, shiny artifacts. He could only remember acquiring about half of them, and this was one of the more mysterious.

A gold coin marked with a skull. He looked it up in his texts without any luck. It remained in the box for a few years, untouched and unnoticed, until one day his Slayer came searching for aid.

"They're after me, I can't kill them. Giles, help."

"Tell me more about them, Buffy."

"Pirates. But when they walk in the moonlight, they're skeletons…"

She knows as he runs his hands through her hair that this might hurt more than the pleasure of this moment would cover.

He plants his lips firmly on hers - no turning back, not now, not ever.

She whispers an "I love you" between their kisses and he knows he's in too deep, and he likes it - loves it.

Vaughn knows that his marriage to Lauren is over - it ended the minute Sydney first smiled at him upon her return.

"I love you" he says, and the world he had never really grown comfortable with - never really wanted - crumbled.

Lily found herself alone in the dark, weightless where there was no ground to stand on. She searched for the young boy she had been holding mere seconds before, but there was nothing around her but darkness and the eerie whisper of what sounded like mournful voices brushing quietly through her hair and between her fingers.

Her eyes adjusted and saw him, his body shaking with silent sobs. She reached out to touch his shoulder and he turned to her and she knew.

"Oh, James, I think I dropped him," she gasped, bringing a ghostly hand to her mournful face.

"You're not supposed to be here." I knew that voice, I recognized it in the darkness, just as I always had. It was James.

"You have to go back, get out, get out!" The sound of her voice was still music, but it was angry and chaotic, like an orchestra gone wrong.

I could see where I was supposed to be. Where I'd come from, where I wanted to return. But it was too late. You can't leave once you've passed through. No one ever has, and no one ever will.

Not even Harry. I'll see him again, in time.

Elizabeth's hair was gorgeous. Jack was in awe with how soft it was - even after their dip in the Caribbean - and as it brushed over his shoulders as she rocked on top of him, he decided there was something about it that made it the prettiest hair he'd ever seen (aside from his own, of course).

It wasn't until a few days later - after being nearly hung and chased around Port Royale - that Jack realized exactly what made Elizabeth's hair so beautiful. It wasn't the curls, the texture, or the length, but the color.

Elizabeth's hair was the color of rum.

Title: Ringbearer
Words: 100
Rating: PG
Fandom: Lord of the Rings
Notes: This is all Meghan's fault. She thought when I said "FAR" it was an acronym, when it wasn't, and then I came up with one off the top of my head - Frodo/Aragorn/Ring - and she dared me to write a drabble. So here's the attempt.

He could see Frodo slowly deteriorating. The chain around his neck was small and seemingly inconsequential, but Aragorn knew better. He said nothing and simply watched, the stoic companion to the Ringbearer, protecting him from a distance.

He'd only ever thought about taking the Ring once. Frodo had offered it to him just before they parted ways, and he had said no. He had passed the test, and not thought of taking it since.

He had, however, thought of Frodo, often wondering if he was still able to bear the weight of the plain silver ringbearing chain around his neck.

Title: The Battle
Rating: R
Fandom: Harry Potter
Words: 100
Notes: It's set in the future, after Hogwarts. Harry/Draco.

The violent, burned mark on Draco's arm was hot and angry, and as he watched Voldemort storm through the crowd he knew exactly why.

He was looking for Harry, but couldn't find him.

Voldemort would find them. Harry was breathing softly behind him, seemingly calm and collected.

His arm twitched as the mark changed. They'd been found. He gave Harry a rough, passionate goodbye on the lips, and leapt out at the Dark Lord, allowing Harry to bring him down. The last thing he saw before he felt fingers tear through neck was a bright flash, and he was gone.

Title: The Price
Words: 100
Fandom: LotR
Rating: PG

Sam didn’t know that the weight of the ring, the burden he bore, came with a price. It came with a price more than the weight on his chest; it came with a price more than the loss of Gandalf in the shadows of Moria. The price of the ring was the crawling creeping of ice, working it’s way from the place on his chest where the ring lay seemingly idle out towards his extremities.

It had frozen good people before him - frozen Smèagol, chilled Frodo. But by the time he’d figured it out, he’d begun to freeze as well.

Title: House Elf
Words: 100
House: Slytherin
Character: Dobby
Notes: Written for [livejournal.com profile] hp100's Room of Requirement challenge. Dobby!

The first time he'd opened the door to the Room of Requirement, he'd seen a closet, filled from top to bottom with socks and shirts and pants and shoes of all sizes and colors. He'd turned slowly, holding the door open while making sure that nobody was coming his way, and when he saw that the corridor was empty, he leapt inside and started to play with the socks. They hung from his ears, covered his legs, and hid the bandages on his hands.

He went back there often, knowing he'd not be missed, and always returned with a smile.

Barbossa paced in his quarters, knowing that the sun would set within the next hour and that it would reveal the worst of his crew. The gnawing hunger in his gut was bothering him more than it had been recently; he’d become used to it in his long, cursed years.

He knew that all species liked the darkness. The moonlight provided only enough light to see where you were going, but still allowed you to hide.

Barbossa hated the night. He had slowly come to realize he was one of a select few who liked to hide in broad daylight.
